The motivation: looking for an environment conducive to a cloud-native company

Clip was born as a technological startup with high impact and potential. Given its digital and technological environment, the company's human resources understand the benefits of the cloud. That is why Clip has the characteristics of a cloud-native company. In that sense, the adoption of Google Workspace from the beginning of the company's operations was very natural since the team members already had experience with Gmail at the user level. More than adoption, it is a technology issue: Google offers them technological tools of great value. Certainly, in a company like Clip, whose employees are very tech-savvy, adoption happened fluidly and naturally.

With the clear idea that all the company's operations are hosted in the cloud, Clip decides to hire Google Cloud through Xertica, basing its decision on three axes: i). support and advice, ii). greater flexibility and iii). advantages at a financial level (costs) and contract administration (local billing).

Thanks to Google Cloud, the company has not seen the need to divert resources on infrastructure or support issues, which allows this technology company to concentrate on its core business. In this regard, Erik Johannessen, Head of Technology Operations at Clip, points out: “Since the birth of Clip, we have used the Google Workspace platform. As Clip's operation and reach begin to grow rapidly, it was necessary to rely on the advice of an expert partner like Xertica to move to the Enterprise version and take full advantage of all Google Workspace tools.”

Regarding flexibility: “The advantage that choosing Google Workspace has given us from the beginning is that it provides a very friendly environment and that it has naturally been growing at the same pace as us. And it will continue to grow,” says Johannessen. Previously, the company had already evaluated other alternative options to Google Workspace; However, these were very rigid and closed as they required the signing of enterprise agreements of unnecessary complexity. In contrast, Google Workspace was more dynamic and flexible from the beginning.

Contributing to Clip's work culture

In addition to the use of email and collaboration tools, data storage is also relevant in Clip. The unlimited storage capacity of Drive in Enterprise licenses has resulted in benefits for the IT area: the possibility of making backups of information of certain key users, archiving accounts and, in general, having more control over the information that passes by Clip.

Google Workspace fosters a culture of collaboration and interaction in the preparation of documents (presentations, comments, editables). By making intensive use of file storage in Google Drive, this enables people's mobility: wherever they are they can continue working. Thus, Clip opens up the possibility of options such as home office or resolving any issue remotely for any Clipper.

“It's accessible anywhere, you don't have to carry your computer up and down to access your information and continue working. I always leave my office computer in the office. I get home, I do a home office and from my personal computer I can continue working.”, Erik Johannessen.

The only risk is that you forget the password

An additional benefit of Google Workspace has been its ability to easily integrate with different machines. Clip maintains hybrid environments in terms of technology, since they use Apple machines and Windows-based computers. However, the integration of applications and tools that Google has has made everything run smoothly. “The only problem we have is that someone on the team forgets the password to access the email,” Johannessen says anecdotally.

What's next? The transition process to Enterprise was a good experience for Clip: seamless, service was not affected and support was excellent. Now the company is seeking to continue optimizing and enhancing, together with Xertica, the use of Google Workspace based on the growth of the organization.

Google Workspace usage statistics for the last six months:

- 3.2 million emails.

- 728,429 files.

- 860 calls through Rooms.

- Approximately 2,737 Drive links shared internally.
